Mobile Java Development Environment

Optima have a unique design approach to the development of Mobile Java (J2ME) applications based on techniques developed for JavaCard applications that ensure the application sizes are very small and download and run quickly. For example, Optima’s Java based chat application m-Chat is only 14k in size, compared to similar applications produced by other companies which are often 60k plus.

A modular design approach also allows different applications and functionality to be plugged together in order to easily build more complex applications. For instance, Optima’s m-Map mapping functionality can easily be added to the m-Bank banking applications to show the location of bank branches.

One of the most important aspects of the Optima development environment is the ability to build one version of J2ME that works on all Java phones. This considerably simplifies the porting process and the ability to update and test future releases of any application.
